Everything made at The Wilderness Maven Herbal Apothecary has its origin in soil + sunlight, and is rooted in the belief that if we steward our land well — nourish, feed, respect, and recognize her for the living being she is — we all live more vibrantly. Earth medicine is ancient, powerful, and capable. Plants are medicine of the people. To ensure the future of plant medicine, we must approach each seed, each tree, each blade of grass, as sacred. We must not take, but give. Reciprocity means that we do not take from the land, but we are given these plants as a gift for our kinship with her, our protection of her, our partnership with her, and our gratitude for her. We believe what we give to the land she gives back to us.

As of May 11th, 2024, The Wilderness Maven Herbal Apothecary physical shop in Marshall, Michigan is closed for the move to a new space. The business was founded in Portland, Oregon in 2014 and it is with a combination of great sadness and excitement that we are returning to Oregon in summer of 2024 to get back to our roots.
It has been beyond a pleasure to serve the community in mid-Michigan. During our time in this beautiful community and beautiful space we have made lifelong friends and learned the most profound lessons in serving and supporting the needs of those around us. Every face and every interaction made an indelible impression on our hearts, and we will carry your stories with us as we return home to Oregon. Let this be a lesson for us all that community can reach far and wide, and the impact of a supportive and loving community can expand beyond the reaches of invisible boundaries.
A new brick-and-mortar shop will be opening in the Portland area in late 2024. More details will be announced as they become available.
We humbly steward the land at Wild Earth Farm, located in mid-Michigan. We practice no-till farming, pest control with beneficial insects, no spray, and biodynamic principles. Growing clean botanicals for medicine by working with nature instead of against it is the foundation for the purest products we can offer.

Every product in The Wilderness Maven Apothecary is made with plants that have been sustainably harvested from the wild or grown organically. This practice ensures that not only are the plant medicines made from potent raw materials, but the plants used will continue to flourish for the generations to come.
Indigenous wisdom says take only what you need, and leave more than you take. The bounty of plants in the wild that we are able to forage for our products is a gift, so we make it our mission to give back. To that end, 5% of sales from every product that contains wildcrafted botanicals is donated back to organizations dedicated to keeping the earth a wild and beautiful place.

Meet the Maker
Jennifer Ziegler was born and raised in the Missouri Ozarks and transplanted to Portland, OR in 2012. She started The Wilderness Maven Apothecary in 2014 on the foundation that the best medicine is found in wild places. During the first years of the business, all of the botanicals used were wildcrafted directly from the Pacific Northwest wilderness. As the business grew, Jenn shifted focus and began to grow most of the botanicals used in her products, turning her land into a small-scale intensive medicinal herb farm. In 2022 The Wilderness Maven farm and apothecary moved to rural Michigan to farm medicinal botanicals on a larger scale. Jenn still forages for wild medicinal botanicals at every opportunity, marrying the best of both worlds to create the clean, organic, mindfully crafted herbal products The Wilderness Maven Herbal Apothecary is known for.
